Pimp Warz strategy guide · Reviewed
Recommended approach: For ordinary player attacks, choose the affordable weapon that improves the damage you actually need. A larger Strength bonus helps until you reach the damage ceiling against that opponent; after that, accuracy or survival may be the better purchase.
The best weapon for a new character and the best next purchase for an established fighter can be different. Start with your current equipment, your target and your budget. The public item directory lists recorded bonuses and shop availability; it is not a live player-market price list or a ranking of combat results.
Measure the improvement over your current weapon
A weapon's listed bonus multiplies the Strength contribution from your character and contributing pet before other combat modifiers. Holding those other factors constant, compare (100 + new bonus) / (100 + old bonus). Subtract 1 to express the improvement as a percentage.
Worked example: changing from a +17% weapon to a +65% weapon changes that multiplier from 1.17 to 1.65. That is about 41.0% more effective Strength, not 65% more than your existing loadout. With 10,000 combined character and contributing-pet Strength and no other modifiers, the equipment stage goes from 11,700 to 16,500.
Those percentages are an illustration, not a claim that a particular item is currently the strongest, available in a shop or fairly priced. Open the actual item record and check the offer you can buy.
Check whether extra Strength will change the fight
In standard player combat, the base maximum damage is 15,000 times effective Strength divided by the opponent's effective Defense, bounded between 100 and 40,000 before damage research. A normal hit rolls between 70% and 90% of that maximum; a critical hit uses the maximum.
Against 10,000 effective Defense, the example upgrade raises the base maximum from 17,550 to 24,750, before rounding and research. Against only 4,000 Defense, both weapons already reach the 40,000 base ceiling. The stronger weapon still helps against tougher opponents, but it adds no base hit damage against that particular target.
Use the combat guide to diagnose misses, opening turns and survival before assuming every loss needs a better gun.
Buy the missing capability
Reserve enough resources to use the equipment: an upgrade that leaves you unable to train, recover or complete your planned session can delay progress. Compare the net cost of replacing your current item using real offers, and treat an expected resale price as uncertain until the sale happens.
Check equipped set effects before breaking a set. A training or crime set can be useful during that activity even if another individual item has a higher combat percentage. A weapon's Strength percentage is not a direct gym-gain bonus.
Treat armor, shoes and agility equipment as alternatives for the next purchase. More Strength improves damage below the ceiling; Speed can improve accuracy and the opening turn; Agility can deny the opponent an accuracy advantage; Defense lowers incoming damage.
- Choose a target or activity and inspect your current effective stats.
- Compare the relative bonus increase and your real purchase cost.
- Check the damage ceiling and the combat problem you need to solve.
- Check set effects, equip the purchase and review several comparable fights.
The useful EVE comparison: fit for the job
EVE Academy recommends choosing a ship fitting for the mission and the enemy. The transferable idea is to buy the capability your next fight needs. Pimp Warz expresses that decision through stat multipliers and combat thresholds; EVE's weapon ranges, damage types and ship fittings are not Pimp Warz rules.
